With only 21 days until Russia 2018 kicks off, governing bodies, social media sites and broadcasters are fully in World Cup mode.

FIFA have unveiled Will Smith as one of the performers of the Official World Cup song, along side Nicky Jam and Era Istrefi. Global DJ/songwriter, Diplo, has produced the song ‘Live It Up’ that will be released this Friday. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star said: “It's an honour to be asked to perform at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This global event brings people from all over the world together to cheer, laugh and experience magic.”

Twitter is getting into the World Cup spirit by showing ‘near real time’ highlights for selected South East Asian markets. Malaysian, Indonesian and Filipino football fans will be encouraged to use the social media platform to catch up with near instant clips. This is part of a wider strategy from Twitter, whereby they hope to increase growth and monetisation through sports video, which they have bought broadcasting rights for. More here.

Bwin have released a slick ‘Who Stole The Cup’ video starring Maradona, Cafu and more. Watch is here.

Also, the BBC have created an animated film ahead of the World Cup. Inspired by the hosts long-standing tradition of tapestry, the World Cup promotion features animation and real-life embroidery. The tapestry is not yet complete. Highlights from this year’s World Cup will be added throughout to record the history of this summer’s tournament.
