With the World Cup well under way it’s easy to forget that there are other things happening outside of football. Wish’s campaign delves into the lives of footballers who have missed out on Russia, amply titled #TimeOnYourHands.
The e-commerce giant has created mini videos showcasing what footballs elite get up to if their nation hasn’t qualified for the World Cup, from Robin van Persie’s green fingers to Gareth Bale’s barbering skills. All of the videos are made by showcasing products that can be purchased from Wish, who hit revenues of $1bn last year.
The 30-second ads are running on Fox Sports and Telemundo in the US, as well as digital and social media channels. Allowing players at the World Cup, such as Paul Pogba, to engage with the commercials, by replying to messages with their own videos.
