The sale of Wembley Stadium is off after billionaire Shahid Khan withdrew his offer of £600m. The Fulham and Jacksonville Jaguars owner said that a lack of support from members within English football was the main reason for his offer being withdrawn.

A vote was set to take place next week, where a 127-member FA Council would vote for or against the 100% privatisation of Wembley. In a statement Mr. Khan said that his decision to pull the plug was influenced when it became clear only a slim council majority could be achieved

Mr. Khan saw Wembley as a possible home for the Jaguars one day as well as freeing up funds that could be used to help improve community and grassroots football throughout England.
