Real Madrid have become the latest team to unveil their new kit in collaboration with the Adidas x Parley initiative. Madrid’s pink coral kit, which will be mass produced using recycled Parley Ocean Plastic, was unveiled in New York at a launch event attended by Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.

Adidas have been pioneers in sustainability and in 2017 sold over 1 million pairs of trainers which were made from recycled ocean plastic. As well as Real Madrid, Adidas and Parley have teamed up to produce kits for Man United and Juventus ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Adidas said the unique colour of the kit represents the shades of the ocean’s coral and is a call to action to protect the unique ecosystems before they all die off from pollution and plastic waste.

The Premier League along with Sky, are also committed to reducing waste having launched the #PassOnPlastic initiative. Part of the campaign is to go single-use plastic free by 2020. More here.
