The NFL has signed a deal with video game developer Epic Games, creators of the online sensation Fortnite. Under the agreement NFL fans will be able to purchase team jerseys in-game, as special outfits for their Fortnite characters.

Gamers will be able to acquire and customise eight outfits of their favourite NFL teams. Additionally, players will have the ability to purchase football-themed emotes, tools and a refereeing uniform in order to increase the sport’s presence in the online game.

Once a player has purchased an NFL outfit, for about $15, they are then able to choose one of the league’s 32 team uniforms, allowing them to customise the jersey with a choice of numbers. The outfits will be available as both male and female figures.

The deal represents the first time Epic Games has introduced branded outfits to Fortnite.

Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, had this to say about the partnership: Mark Rein, co-founder of Epic Games, added: “We have so many football fans at Epic and we know a lot of the game's fans share that same enthusiasm. Allowing our players to represent their favourite teams in the game was too cool of an opportunity for us to pass up, and we couldn't be happier with how they turned out.”
