The NFL announced this week that the league has agreed an eight-year extension with Nike, which will see the sportswear giant kit out all 32 teams with game-day uniforms and all sideline apparel that bears the famous swoosh logo.

The new deal, which will run until 2028, solidifies Nike’s position as the apparel provider for US sports after landing the rights to the NBA's uniforms, starting this season.

Financial details of the NFL deal weren't released, but the deal with the NBA was worth a reported $1.1bn for eight years. However, when Nike signed the original contract with the NFL it was rumoured to be worth $1.1bn – so this extension could surpass that figure.
