Ahead of its second season the NBA 2K League has announced a multi-year deal with US clothing manufacturer Champion. Under the deal Champion will be listed as the official outfitter of the NBA’s competitive gaming league and will provide all 21 esports teams with game uniforms, warm-up, travel and practice gear. In-game avatars will also be in Champion-branded jerseys, despite Nike being the league’s official uniform provider.

The announcement was made ahead of this year’s NBA 2K League Draft, which will feature the competition’s four expansion franchises: T-Wolves Gaming, Lakers Gaming, Hawks Talon GC and Nets Gaming Crew.

Brendan Donohue, MD of the NBA 2K League, said: “Champion’s authentic designs and innovative products make them a great partner for the league, and we can’t wait to see our teams compete in their new uniforms this season.”

Esports has continued to gain momentum and the success has seen the commercial value sore, with revenues expected to exceed $1bn in 2019.

In January the NBA announced a $1.1bn extension with Take-Two Interactive, allowing the game publisher to continue to produce NBA 2K titles. More here.
