Matchroom Boxing struck an eight year deal worth $1bn this week with live sport streaming service, DAZN, for 16 fights per year to take place in the USA. The announcement marks the biggest deal in boxing history, worth $1bn over the eight years which, at current exchange rates means around £92.5m per year. Therefore Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing will have a staggering average of £5.7m to spend on each of the 16 US shows per year.

Although the fights will be streamed via subscription service DAZN in the USA, British boxing fans will be able to enjoy all 16 fights on Sky Sports, all aired free of charge. However, some boxing fans are worried that the new venture will detract the attention away from high profile fights taking place in the UK; something Hearn has ademently denied. Speaking at the announcemnt event Hearn said: My focus won’t change, the UK is our core business and that’s how it will remain but this is an opportunity of a lifetime".

Matchroom's current stable are expected to feature heavily during the 16 fights, but Hearn's plan is for him to create a 30-man super stable including some of the most established names in America.
