Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday (April 15th) after rivals United lost 1-0 to struggling West Brom. Pep Guardiola’s men have topped the table since September and have been virtually unstoppable – having only lost twice in 33 games.
The City players wasted no time in celebrating with captain Vincent Kompany Facetiming Kevin De Bruyne and Kyle Walker immediately after the final whistle went at Old Trafford. Watch here. City’s own digital team went above and beyond the usual congratulatory imagery for social media by producing bespoke 30 second highlight videos for the first team players. As well as individual static imagery for the squad players who have been less involved this season.
The videos and imagery that players had posted was then retweeted via the clubs official account, increasing exposure and engagement. As well as helping to emphasise the collective team spirit that Manchester City strive for.
City’s official partners also celebrated the title win, with telecommunications company Etisalat producing the most memorable piece of content. The minute-long video, which has since gone viral with over 5m views, demonstrates how Man City’s heroics are celebrated across the globe.
