Eight-time Wimbledon champion, Roger Federer, has ended his 21-year relationship with Nike after penning a new 10-year deal with Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo. The deal is thought to be worth $300m, trumping the $10m-a-year contract he previously held with Nike.
Nike still retain the rights to the Swiss legends iconic “RF” logo, however Federer anticipates that he would have his RF motif back. Saying: I was excited to wear Uniqlo today. I must tell you, it's been a long time coming," he said. "The RF logo is with Nike, but it will come to me at some point.”
Despite officially cutting ties with Nike, Federer, is still wearing their trainers due to Uniqlo not manufacturing tennis shoes. The 36-year-old was seen donning the iconic Swoosh trainers during the first two rounds of Wimbledon this week.
