OTT streaming service Eleven Sports has announced that it will be ‘regrettably’ handing over its UK and Ireland rights for Italy’s Serie A to Premier Sports. However, the global broadcaster has vowed to continue showing live coverage of La Liga on an exclusive basis – at least until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Premier Sports will also obtain the rights to the Eredivisie as of the end of February. Eleven Sports final Serie A broadcast will be on 25th February, before coverage exclusively switches to Premier Sports on 1st March.

Eleven Sports will reduce subscription prices for new and existing customers to £4.99 a month, with existing subscribers receiving a special promotion offer to sign-up to Premier Sports. However, football fans in the UK could end up paying £1,015 across four subscriptions if they wish to watch matches from the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. With that price set to rise again once Amazon Prime’s broadcasting of the Premier League begins next season.

In October Eleven Sports caused a stir by breaching UK blackout rules, read all about it here.
