Austin will get its first major sports team in 2021, in the form of MLS side Austin FC. The Texas side was officially launched this week at a press conference attended by MLS Commissioner Don Garber, Austin FC chairman and chief executive Anthony Precourt and Austin mayor Steve Adler.

The team will play their home matches at a $225m stadium at McKalla Place in North Austin. The stadium is set to be opened in September, with a dedicated training facility also planned.

Precourt forfeited his rights to operate Columbus Crew in order to run Austin FC. With Columbus being taken over by a new ownership group, which will be headed by Cleveland Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam.

Attendees at the press conference were also given Austin FC song sheets, which caused a social media frenzy. Check the songs out here.
