Online football phenomenon, Arsenal Fan TV, has been forced into a rebrand after the club held discussions with the YouTube channel. The decision now prevents the newly named AFTV from including the name ‘Arsenal’ from all future videos, as well as branded and copyrighted material.
The channel, described as the ‘No1 fan channel on YouTube, boasts over 820,000 subscribers and a further 1.4m social media followers.
AFTV has been criticised in the past for the negative coverage of the team. Gunners right back Hector Bellerin claimed that the channel “fed off failure” whilst Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, called the channel “embarrassing.”
The success of the fan channel receives huge social media exposure, especially after an Arsenal loss, with football fans across the globe tweeting about how excited they are for the latest AFTV episode.
