This week Anthony Joshua announced that he would be defending his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO titles against Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller at New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 1st. The fight will represent AJ’s first on American soil and will be shown exclusively in the States on OTT streaming service DAZN. Whilst UK boxing fans will be able to see the two undefeated heavyweights take on each other via Sky Sports Box Office

In May last year Matchroom agreed a 16-fight $1bn deal with DAZN, which represents the biggest deal in boxing history. Read more about it here.

Matchroom Boxing Managing Director Eddie Hearn announced the fight, saying: “AJ has created an incredible lion’s den atmosphere in the UK, and we plan to bring that energy to New York on a card that will be stacked with British vs. American talent.”

Many boxing fans were expecting AJ to take on Deontay Wilder at Wembley on April 13th, after Matchroom Boxing announced fight dates at the stadium last year. However, in a YouTube video Joshua spoke about how boxing politics have put that fight on hold – for now.
